Yes, 86cm mast is ok, fits Nice in the bag.. but + 15cm would be really Nice..
15cm add on with long pass thru bolds would be doable and great in many conditions and for traveling.

I found a company in UK that will sew me a padded bag to my specs for 100£ + shipping.

Hi Tom late reply sorry. My LF 93cm mast does fit in the nobile check in bag. On a diagonal as you thought. No problem.

Ok. Thanks. I laid out some tape and tried to see if my mast would fit. Problem is my mast has fixed plate, so won't go in diagonally...

I tried mine with plate. It fits but is of course slightly elevated on the one end. Also depending on how sharp you may need to pad the end so as to avoid damaging the bag. Something thin like a tupperware lid would work. The bag is very soft so it is easy to fit.

That I would not do, you're asking at least for a damaged bag and most likely damaged mst. Remember those baggage throwers are not gentle and your bag will be smashed up against everything else. Anything that pokes out like that is going to be a problem.

Valid point. The bag is soft sided and offers zero protection.
Ideally we all travel with hard sided luggage. With proper support and padding it “could” be fine. Just saying it can fit. I personally would use a padded foil bag and pay the extra if travelling by air. What is piece of mind worth?

Grtlakes, thanks for taking the time to check!! Really nice of you.
I'm hoping the UK company will make a 95cm custom bag for me. I sent a sketch, but waiting for response.
