Foils and LEIs are quite different in some regards. Turning and say L/D or power per m2 seem to be in conflict. That is to say you could improve the turning on these kites but it would make them worse for racing. To get more turning at the tips you would need to alter the bridle at the canopy. If you can see you start engaging one part of the kite and not the others, only part of the kite then does full work and inefficiency increases. Inflatables do this and so do some foils, and they suffer in some ways for it. Inflatables also warp their entire wing changing their projected area, a tighter arc turns quicker. There is only a couple of foils that do that but in the opposite way, which has more benefit I think.

"I did do as you recommend above concerning Z to adjust same as C."
Don't do that. I said NOT to adjust Z the same as C.
"Can ram air kites be tuned to turn on their wing tips"
Sort of : If I want a kite to turn in a small radius and don't mind losing power in the turn, I will tune it with quite a lot of break and probably set the Speed system /Mixer at C+ 2 B+1. This will allow the one side of the wing to stall in the turn.
However this comes at a cost. Stability, upwind angle and speed will all suffer. Eg. Not a good setup for racing.
"Do you ever grab by hand a steering, break line to turn faster?"
Yes. Sometimes in an emergency I will do that.
Also, as with my LEIs I trim them to just barley back fly, do you trim the same for R As?
If I want to race I will try to find the kites lowest Drag / max lift setting. I will try to fly with as little break as possible and try to bring C and B into a good alignment to provide max speed and angle. This I do by feel and a double check with gps eg. go out ride. If the kite feels to draggy, come in shorten up C or B or both, go out see the difference.

I did not do exactly your idea by adding only to the top of "B" pulley line, but extended both B and C between mixer and kite bridals for future adjustment possibilities, so I did shorten Z to = C. But now because I marked the before tuning Z relative to A I can always get back easy.
Thanks for that info!
Thanks again for all that insight, I look forward to adjusting then test flying while foiling as on the beach with out apparent wind it seems to not give so much feedback.
Can I assume your back is hopefully much better? Mine is hit or miss.

Excellent, no need to unhook while foiling best I can see, as for fit my doc says backstroke swimming works wonders for core strengthening.
Glad you are OK after all you have been through, thank god for modern medicine!

Thanks Rev.
Just another thing that occurred to me was that with kites that have a decent amount of hours, is the sand buildup in the trailing edge. Most people don't bother getting the sand out, but I highly recommend doing this. On a big kite the weight addition can be quite high and make the kite too heavy to fly properly in really light air.
Best way to get it out is to make sure the kite is bone dry, hang it up by its trailing edge and work the sand out by rubbing the TE with between your thumb and forefinger. You should be able to work the sand back into the kite and then pour it out of the dirt out.
I need to do it on an old R1 have here, so might make a video if people are interested.

I get sand in the pulleys from time to time as you would expect and use a silicone lubricant spray which works well.
The pulleys being Ronstan Orbit Block RF25109

Spraying the sand out with a hose works for flysurfers.

I'm talking about behind the seam in the TE.
