I even could go on a 8m wave LEI in 8/9knots already with the Makaira.
That is the key argument to me , so go for a 12m which has already more boost than S4 Lotus as a reference.
mig27 wrote: I feel still more interest for the 12m. And maybe in regular cloth anyway, since it is so lightweight already.
Well ... I am sooooo happy with the light cloth that I can only recommend you to go for it ; with experience, I find out that weight is a very very key parameter, that not only provides flying in lulls, but also more efficient kite work even in moderate winds like 8 knots, smoother loops, better drift (useful for transitions), ect ... ; for example the Flysurfer Viron ( beginner / high wind foil kite) was far much better in DLX rather than standard cloth. Also my last LEI is very light (One strutt) and I love the impact it has on its use even in 15 knots.
mig27 wrote:Indeed the focus for race-kites is not the low-end due to the minimal wind-speed rule of 7/8kn for racing
not sure to understand what you mean but racers look for better speed in a certain wind (below which the race is canceled), with a kite which is charged far higher than "normal free-ride"; free-rider need is not necessarily the same, some looking for a kite which works in even lower wind or suden lulls or a kite that accept carving, line slacks, ect ...; on that point a limited AR will be more adapted, also keeping in mind that racer only ride in two directions : highest angle and deeperst angle possible, never transverse wind which is very common for free-riders (for me at last)

Oh BTW I have rechecked with a friend who bought the Pulsion standard Cloth : weight impact is +400 grams, so leading to 2150 grams approx, still 150 gram less than S4 Lotus. But again the lighter the better (saving some simmings has no cost ..., if you are not intending to use it every day or heavier rider )

For commercial matter, better to get the last info from Benoit by writing an email ; Pulsion is in 15/12/9/6 & 3.7 , prices of 3 month ago as follows ( not on the site unfortunatelly:
Regis-de-giens wrote: The prices are changing depending on money conversion rate from Canadian US, transport costs and taxes. Here are the prices he gave me 2 month ago, without transport nor taxes :
3.69m : 849$ canadien = approx 580 Euros
6M : 1199$ canadien = approx 820 Euros
9m :1449$ canadien = approx 990 Euros
12m : 1649$ canadien = approx 1120 Euros.
12 m light cloth = approx 1849 $ canadien = 1260 Euros

It is just an overview, since he can adapt the prices to material price evolution, so better contacting him

It seems fine to me if you have regular winds because of narrow superspositon. But i can ask Benoit. wind range is approx the same as 8m LEI i would say.

What is the high end for the 12 mts kite (75KG kiter)? Is it a good kite to be your first foil, better than a race kite like Chrono 12 m for example?

Is it faster than a race kite or better for carving then?

I'm looking for something that can deal with 4-5 knots lulls in 6-7-8 knots with a low aspect hydrofoil my low-end now is 7-8-9 knots with a 12 LF Solo and 30m lines.

Thank you Regis for your help, your are doing a wonderful work with all this info.

More detailed answer this week end but yes pulsion is super for first foilkite for its stability and behaviour not so far from LEI.
Race kite will go by definition faster. Pulsion very goog for carving, probably the best of all for it thanks to goodbdrift and quick turn radius. Pansh a 15 should also be good at carving for the money but certainly less polyvalent for light wind and speed.
Top high end of pulsion 12m is 17m for my 60kg but comfotable up to 15 knots for me.

This Saturday in Cannes ,3-6 knot (in gusts), static exercizes on a narrow beach. Sorry the camera was badly directed, so not very fun to look at, but we can deduce the quality of flight in marginal wind (at least launching, loops or half of them !). Otherwise, please enjoy the first Music of Georges Brassens , my prefered french author here joking on angry people disliking the wind ...

This was the lowest wind I raised the Pulsion, regular enough to reach its fling limit for the first time. An experienced  foileur having a Ozone R1, and knowing this spot very very well, was impressed and admitted he could never have raised his Ozone with this poor wind.

I would not have had enough lift to waterstart I think. Maybe with the 15m if wind was not offshore ? Assuming the agility is not badly impacted by size and ration increase.

Looking again at this video , I am still impressed myself :-) and I am thrilled to receive the 15m (under cutting table right now)

Anyway. You can find here a very interesting synthesis of weeks of rides from Steph of Lesfoilzs.com, with a 9m with a surf from . Reminder : he is french skilled rider with a surf (not hydrofoiling) and trying to find for years the best foilkite for waves. He was the initial french contact with Benoit, which reports on the Smart Marine and Pulsion convinced me to try and buy the 12 m light in foil 6 month ago:

I do not have time to translate this week, any voluntary for our non-french readers. Foilholio, you seem to be comfortable with Moliere language :D ...
