Yes they reshrink, but it has never seemed quick to me, but I haven't measured. Maybe the force you use is a factor, the higher the longer it lasts?

What weight do you use? I think I used a 15kg bag of rocks at the end of a pully

I did use 15kg before but with a good technique so the bridles don't break 25-30kg works well.
