Flysurfer Sonic 2

Postby windrider1 » Tue Dec 27, 2016 5:12 pm

I just got my hands on a sonic 2 and i would say im really impressed with the kite . I previously owned a sonic 1 9m and 11m. They were both great kites in that they were fast very powerfull for their size and generated alot of lift and speed. the only thing i didnt care for was the strong pull during launching and the occasional tip tuck of the 11. I'm usually skeptical of new kites when they come out especially if they bring out a new model every year but flysurfer dosent do that so i was willing to take a gamble on it after reading some positive reviews. Well after flying the kite all i can say is WOW . how do they do it. The kite brought that big grin to my face that im sure every kiter knows. The first thing u will notice is that It feels lighter in the air than the sonic 1 but definately pulls just as hard, . the kite just sits up in the air with a light feel waiting for your command. the second thing is the speed with which the kite pulls , to me it has definitely increased allowing u to move as fast as u want to load up for whatever trick u want. they have also minimized the extreme stalling behavior which can be usefull but i dint care too much for in version 1. I didnt have one tip tuck issue once the kite was fully inflated. All in all Its a much smoother and lighter kite that maintains its high lift and speed . What a great kite ! kudos to the design team. :thumb:

They are really great! I've ridden 11, 13, and 15 now and all of them have been amazing. Same power, but more stable and easier to use.

I quickly went from a best ever top speed of 32.7 MPH on sonic1 to 34.5 mph and then 35.8 mph the next session on sonic2 with the same foil!

Lots more reviews here:

Haven't tried it myself, but I've heard it has all the same good qualities of the ones I've ridden.

Now that I sold my sonic 1s, planning to pick up a 9m and 18m sonic2, so I'll let you know!

No, I don't. Currently grounded in Germany, but hoping to be back on the water mid/end of January.
Then I think I will take an 18 with me.

I highly recommend you do. I can and I cant understand why people don't have foils but I think a big one should be in everyones bag. Why anyone bothers to pump such large kites I just don't understand and for such poor performance. You will enjoy some very good jumps 15knots maybe down to 12.
