I don't have any foilKites but the hyperlink is quite tempting.

Has anyone modified one by removing the "hybrid" tube zippers? Even lighter weight for marginal winds?

You are not the first with these thoughts, but in my opinion, try it and you will not be focused on this detail anymore.

Cheers,
Frank

Having HL version for water use only without zippers and any other stuff that is in it to make work as open cell would be a nice option. Perhaps made lighter or cheaper without that additional junk. It could happen in the future as HL seems to be quite popular kite and has not been on the market that long. On the other hand, I don't think about it since the kite is well balanced and hangs in the air very well. It is interesting to see zippers in the flight as they don't point straight back all the time, at least not all of them. Gives you an indication which way the air flows inside

Kykeon , roughly , 12 meters is 24 feet long and 5 feet wide in the middle . I took this measure this morning but I did not stretch it , only measure on top of it . I also put my V2 9 meters on top of it and they are about the same length .

Borist , it is a matter of fact , kites are always too heavy and the HP could be lighter and I would not be surprised to see a light version soon . However , I'd be curious to know the weight of 6 smalls zippers ? Fabric is probably to blame too , The good side of it is that it should last longer than the Ultra Light fabric , especially for a water, land and snow use .
Another plus is that this hybrid should be easier to resell , used foil kites are tough to sell in my area .

That was my first thought about the "hybrid nature" of HL. We'll see in the future whether this was correct assumption. In any case, a good kite (good flyer and well made) should be relatively easy to resell.

Gunnar , how would you compare the relaunch compared to a V2 Ultra Light or R1V2 ?

I tried it....its way better. Its super easy, you can do a single line relaunch with a foil kite....

the relaunch difficulty is generally proportional to the Aspect ratio... (and the weight for light winds and te watertigness of the cloth for long term bath...)

Hey Gunnar and anyone else have you had the opportunity to compare the Ozone Chrono 9m (V1 or V2) with the Hyperlink 9m. If so, I’m hoping you will say that the Hyperlink is not as fast, sits lower in the wind window and overall less “racy” than the Chrono.
The reason for asking is that I use my Chrono 9m in 20mph winds and finding it a tad too fast for my needs. Its take me quite a time to get use the speed of the 9m after having used my 18m or 12m for example. The 9m Chrono is a great kite and think perhaps I could do with a kite that is slower in the 20mph + wind range.

9m Hyperlink overlaid on 9m Chrono V2 for AR comparison.
