Full power, bar to chicken loop. Put tension on lines at 90* to the wind, then keeping the bar sheeted start walking upwind until the wingtip starts to pull up off the ground. If you can hold it in this position and fill the downwind wingtip fully, it can launch and be stable while you futz with the wingtip that had sand on it. If you keep the kite sheeted hard, it should just sit there vertical and slowly inflate the lower wingtip. You have to have A) confidence B) balls that you can just keep it sheeted in and vertical at the edge of the WW because if you monkey around with sheeting out it'll generate pop and rip you off balance.

great description mossy! thanks for the advice. i feel certain it will go better next time, i've been using the wrong technique for sure.
