Leading edge batons

Hey guys n gals.
What are the leading edge batons in the majority of race kites made of?
And where can I get the material to make my own?
Looking to modify a kite of mine and the knowledge base here for materials is the best starting point. I'm assuming it's just a type of thermoplastic rod but no idea of the spesifics or how or where to get it from
