There is more spanwise strapping than ever (?) seen in foil kites. And why not, to transfer loads more to the inside of a kite makes skins smoother and perhaps makes kite less mushy feeling. Kite looks very smooth and it is not hard to believe it is fastest turning FS kite so far like they have claimed.

Profile of the kite looks quite thick, which suggest very good stability and good lift and steady pull. Kite has at least moderate canopy curve which means lesser PA but also better turning (less pivotal, more power, faster), suggesting kite will be fun to fly.

Available full kite size range hints this kite will replace Speeds, there might not be much room left between Soul and Sonic.

I did a quick study for a kite with observed and questimated specs of FS Soul, it shows how D-ribs and bridle can be for that cell count and bridle spacing (not quite precisely however due to some difficulties).

If my German is working Armin is saying in this thread: http://forum.oase.com/showthread.php?t=171185&page=2 that the Speed will continue.

Ok, thanks for info. Ozone has Hyperlink, Chrono and R1, and FS Soul, Speed and Sonic, it makes sense in that respect. And of course Speeds have been very successful kite serie.

However I think it is a bit strange that FS has big kite sizes of all three of them, Ozone does not have big Hyperlinks.

It seems H-ribs are more often used than D-ribs nowadays, like it is in Soul. There is lot of holes to reduce weight in horisontal parts of ribs.

Canopy curve has changed quite a lot from what is used to be. Long time ago curve was more on wingtip area, now wingtips are less curved. I like aesthetically more balanced canopy curve than what it is now, but for sure there is valid reasons why it is like it is in Soul.

LE of the kite is more rounded than before, apparently for easier relaunch (single line) like they say.

Projected area seems to be ca. 5% higher than in Speed5, due to different area distribution and different canopy curve.

Soul is about 10% lighter in weight than Speed5. Published wind range is equal to Speed5.

AR of the Soul changes by kite size and so does cell count, but not linearly. For higher cell counts relative cell shape is widest at 21m kite and thinnest at 10m kite, but these differences are not very big. 41 cells for AR 6 should be enough. Two smallest sizes have 35 cells for AR 5, which is still more than what for example Hyperlink has.

I don't know how mixer is but I don't see any reason why it wasn't normal 1:2:4 system. Bridle spacing is 1-3-1 etc, before seeing line plan hard to say more. There is some check marks for stretching/shrinkage control and unlike many others FS do care how easy it is to adjust/service the bridle.

I'm looking forward to test Soul and I'm quite sure I'll like it.

Armin please make a 9m , I'm sure most people would like to buy a 9/12 quiver and PLEASE make a concertina compression bag like the other company does there awesome for protecting the leading edge rods.

That's true, I must say Ozone R1 bag is way more better. And own Sonic 9m, very nice kite, still crispy as, and R1 not so after ~30 seshs...
