The ground around here is not ideal for launching foil kites.
(Pebbles are ok - but it's frequent to have some thorny seeds called tribulus or an occasional sharp stick/glass etc)
My crazy idea is to lay a surface of tarp cloth (tent material) and lay/launch the kite from it.
Has anyone tried it? or seen it?

Have not tried it but suspect that it would work great. I'd want to make sure that tarp was staked/weighted down really well so it doesn't present a possible obstruction that could foul your bridle or lines.
