F-One Diablo V4

Postby davesails7 » Wed Sep 12, 2018 7:00 pm

Any news on the Diablo V4? I've seen the pictures in the recent IKA Gold Cup races, but hadn't heard any feedback on them.

Results were good, I think Connor Bainbridge was winning for the first half of last event on Diablo V4, finished 3rd.

Looks like the wingtips are more square than other recent race kites:

I got a chance to fly the 11m V4. First thing I noticed is how much faster it was than my 11m V1. Lots of lift at zenith for tacks and jibes. Can't remember the specifics on what materials/bridles/pullies etc but it is a well thought out kite. Have never tried the V2 or V3 and I understand there were issues with these models. V4 is higher aspect than the V1 and I thought it was harder to start than the V1. I had some tip tucking issues with it but I'm sure that it was just my kite flying skills on day 1 with this kite as others I've watched on the same kite did not. Very good looking kite and VERY fast as recent race results prove. Looks F-One is back in the game.

Yeah, I've heard mixed reviews of the V2. Seems like some of them were not stable. Others I've talked to really like it though.

I've heard good things about the V3. I think the V4 is an all new designer. I think the designer of V1, 2, and 3 left for another company (Enata? can't remember).
