Tuning an Ozone hyperlink

Postby TomW » Mon Sep 17, 2018 6:05 pm

Ok, I think I have close to 60 hrs on my Hyperlink 9m UL. I have not checked anything. It flys like it did out of the bag new.
I'm going to Brazil for 2 weeks and wondering if I should tinker with it or just leave it until I get back.
If I leave it will it suddenly get bad or will it be gradually getting bad.
In Brazil I don't want to tinker with it.
I'll probably be on my Hyperlink 7 mostly anyway. But wondering about it.

Anyone have a hyperlink get " out of tune" ?

If this is true, you'll only do more harm than good trying to mess with it. Once this is no longer true, you can explore a variety of tips for relaxing certain risers on the bridle, etc, but for now enjoy a kite that flies as good as it did on day 1!

Plenty of use on mine and no tuning. So I’m with Mossy. I would inspect everything and especially the blocks and mixer lines to make sure there are no wear before a vacation.

When I go on holiday I take spare pulleys and bridle line with me just in case.
If it fly’s as it did when first purchased then leave “as is” as suggested.
However, you may want to perform the “speed system Zero Position check” when you get back.
Full details here: https://ozonekites.com/images/uploads/p ... -Check.pdf
Then look at this thread, it makes a good read.

I thought you can download the bridal specs and measure them to see whether they are still the correct length.?

It would be worth closely inspecting every bridal and checking for any wear too. Especially where they pass through the pulleys

If the kite is flying fine, be sure if you change any pulley lines to counter act for any change in their length from the new lines which will be longer. For example 4cm longer C pulley line folded in half will lengthen C 2cm and B 1cm. B pulley line will only alter B for half it's length change. You can use Z to counter this. Z lenthened for 4 is the same in profile as shortening B for 1 and C for 2.

It never hurts to play with your Z length. You will get the most change with it. Altering Z length with a simple multiple knot and larkshead system is great for different conditions. Going back to original is as simple as choosing that knot. Which is all you need to remember, your original length. If you don't like the change just change Z back to as before.

Thanks people. I'll do general check and bring spares that are included with the kite. I'll bring some spare thin lifeline as emergency repair for bridles too.
