Mossy,
Inclined to agree- The trimmer is not really in the way. I made trimmer-less as an experiment, and it reduces cost- no need for the cleat and the Y thingy for front lines. Plus extra line to rig. I buy the Ozone ones it together about 40€.
It is a simpler set-up, but the negatives are there.

Found one on ebay, just ordered it. 56cm is $50. Might take till Dec to get it. I'll report back, it looks just like a lot of the kitebars out there (same shape floats, grip, shape of center hole)

Just converted a production bar to the BRM style center line/depower/release. Cut the hook off a spreader bar, leaving a 'loop' of metal to attach to. No trim adjustment; with the 12m foil I'm flying, I just never used it. Trimming the kite would kill the ability to back the kite down (a bit) by pulling the bar all the way in, like when getting back on the board in the water.

Got the bar from ebay; very happy with my purchase. Bar has a good feel, very solid, smooth metal hole and easy passage through the floats for bottom leader lines. Very similar to a bar from Kitech. Ends are a medium dense foam that might not survive rough treatment. Price has gone up to $60, but still a great option if you are looking for a bare bar. But, while the ebay listing states the bar is 56cm long, the distance from bottom line to bottom line is 48cm.

I ordered and received another of the blank bars on ebay. I've been very happy with the quality of the bars and the smoothness of them sliding on the depower line. For anyone thinking of ordering them, the bar that is listed as 54cm long is 43cm between bottom lines, and the bar listed as 56cm long is 48cm between bottom lines. These are the red and black bars that have quite a few listings on ebay.

I ride mostly 3 strut freeride/freestyle inflatable kites, and have use almost exclusively trim-less bars for the last 3+ years - even for unhooked riding.
For 2019 I design a Trimless bar for Airush - called the "Ultra Bar". It has a small loop, 60cm of bar travel, adjustable stopper and a beach adjustable larks head adjustment above the depower main lines if needed.

Should be available now from your local Airush Dealer if you don't want to roll your own.
Cheers
