OK. I can not visualise how to wrap the mast and fuselage in carbon fibre.
Could someone give me some hints please! Do you do it in multiple jobs? Like... wrap the mast, vacuum, dry. Once that has dried do the fuselage? And then the mounting plate? Would doing each part separately make the joins fragile?
Has anyone managed to do the whole lot in one go?
Many thanks!

Unless you're going to save a lot of money and know what you're doing, it will be a painful road to walk down. It will probably be cheaper to buy one.
I made a mast from G10 and vac bagged it in I think 10 layers of carbon to stiffen it up.
You do need to wrap all the carbon in one go. splitting the job can be done but you never get as strong a bond.
The French forums have some amazing home builds.
http://kitefoil.forumactif.org/t1602-dups-foil-v3 this is the one I ended up copying.
It's hard work but now I know how to work with Carbon.

That was quite interesting. He didn't do much vacuum bagging at all.
I think I'm going to try his method of clamping the mounting plate. That looked a good idea.
I am tempted to try two vacuum sessions. It's just too fiddly and messy to get it all epoxy'd up and into the bag without it all unwrapping and falling off.

With minimal tools provided. Prep area with sand paper, hold mast in some kind vice, cut your strips of carbon, be care not to handle strips of carbon too much (two inch 3 feet long). carbon tape is better if you supplier has in stock. Take one end of strip in a rapping angle as were to overlap the mast but only tag a inch on to mast using using a little mix of epoxy to tape it on keep the rest of strip dry. Let the epoxy harden. Now you can pull the rest of the strip with some pressure after wetting the rest.
After raping while still wet take some clear wraping packing clear plastic and start wraping again two layers. Now with some will pressure use blue masking better yet some nylon shipping tape and rap the hell tight.
After dry over night cut the tape and through to the plastic and unwrap. Will be messy looking but strong. Sand lumps so smooth out and finsh coat. Key is to have wraped two to three goats of carbon.
If have fixed fuselage the same way with carbon dow in the middle of fuselage.
Use longer pot life epoxy or prepare all materials organized before start.
Good luck
have and ? will explain more.
