omg wrote:borist, looks nice. How stiff is the board, I mean if you press down the nose of the board or more realistically the front foot strap, does it flex? How many layers of glass on top and bottom did you put? Any wood patches etc?
2 layers of glass (not sure of weight) each side with rail overlap, so rails get 4 layers of glass. No wood, carbon patches sandwiched between glass layers (see below).
Board feels quite stiff, possibly due to carbon strips that overlap around the nose. I'll check for flex when I go out. Wind was no show this week so far.

exactly my thoughts when I saw the pic.
unfortunately did not take any pics of the glassing and placement of the veneer. Next time.
Two pics of it on the rocker table under vacuum. Running on 25" of mercury by gauge. Foam rated at 350kpa so should not have any issues with compressing the foam.
Setup should produce around 6cm of rocker . . . starting around the centre of the board.

I think it the same as the plastic they put under slabs only it is clear instead of black.

two closeups of the glass job. 3 x 200g (6 onz) E glass plus one patch over the strut mount
decided to go without vac bag. Had shaped the last bit of rocker into the blank and it was sitting cleanly on the table at 6cm which is what i was after so no need to bag it. Rounded off all the rails to allow an easy wrap job. Rails wrapped with 3 layers up to top veneer. Will glass top with 2 layers of 200g wrapped to bottom edge (so will be 5 layers 200gm on the rails).
