The success bending 1/2" birch plywood is interesting!
Please, if you know, how long was it soaked in water? 10 mnutes? 30? 100?
Also it will be interesting to see how it holds up in a few months or years.
I don't see why it wouldn't, but I didn't realize one could bend this type and thickness of plywood so well.
How many layers are in this plywood?
What's the manufacturers if you know?

7 ply Baltic birch dunked for 60 seconds. Hot day so it dried in 3-4 hours under the car. Pretty sure I could get even more bend in it. When I stand on it and flex it flat it springs back when I get off. Hopefully it'll last. Plan to add 2-3x 6 oz glass.

That plywood is not getting anything from a 1min soak.

I too am skeptical about the role of wetting the wood. Birch is porous but still, normally you need steam for 30 minutes or soaking for days to bend 1/2 inch wood, if the wood is stiff in the first place.
But in the end, it worked, that's what counts.
I'll add that If you can flatten it by stepping on it, it probably still will need strong glass lamination as you plan to hold the shape over time. With that much glass, you could have a board with a cedar or paulownia core that would weigh much less.
One thing a birch core with glass laminations should be great for, though, is resisting the forces of the foil plate.

Glassed it with 2x 6 oz top and 1x 6 oz on bottom with a couple smaller pieces where the plate contacts. Only 2nd board I've made and first with epoxy and not poly resin. Not gonna spend $$ on more expensive materials till I'm more experienced.

Made some more progress on the 1/2 inch Baltic birch ply board I bent under the car. I lost some of the rocker during glassing- should have been more careful to have the nose propped up on something. Still has 2 cm or so. Weighs 10.4 lbs all told. 48"x 17.5" dimensions.
Deckpad is $10 Eva foam mat glued on with contact cement. Didn't get it lined up quite right but oh well.
This whole project was done in my tiny backyard with minimal tools, $, and experience.
Anyone have a tip on what to use to clean up he foam edges? I plan to leave an inch of bare board around the edge. Will a sharp Xacto blade do it? I used a dull one and it left a dirty cut.

- Foot hook covered with that foam and shaped with a belt sander.
If you have one, a belt sander eats away that foam smoothly, and quickly.

Started fixing my busted board. First I had to get the pad off. Heated it up with my infrared heater lamp, tore off the Eva, then used glue solvent and a steel cabinet scraper to get all the glue off. What a shit job.
Now I've put HD foam stringers with some glass around them and some filler. Just to stabilize the whole thing.
Next step I will v-bag 2 layers of 1mm wood veneer with glass under and grind that to deck chine. Then I'll glass deck over rail with 3 layers glass. Under the deck glass I'll put some 200 g carbon plain I have on hand. Oh don't want to spend money on ordering uni directional.

Trying to give more strength through changing core materials (be it foam or stringers) is the worst way to do it.
May I urge you to rethink your statement as I am quite sure core choice is VERY important and can and will add strength!
As for stringers, history leaves clues in the pure surfboard world.
My last board build has 4 cm extruded polystyrene core (so cheap but stiff) with 1000 g quadri ONLY at STRUT plate mount top and bottom, and 300g every where else with
300g uni on rails for easy layup vac sacked in 2 steps.
I would be willing to wager that had the core been shitty expanded bead (NOT extruded) poly it would be far less stiff!
About 2.2 kilos for 125 x 50 x 4, NO flex and so far so good.
