Just finished this first foilboard, used left over materials and extra blank I had .
4-10x 18,75 13 liters. It's about 20 mm thick in the center, 30 + at rails.
2,5 kg without foothooks and foil.
My previous was 3,5 kg with additional 560 g adapter plate. So I can tell the difference.
Has more glass and carbon than previous, but still has some flex. I could put another 200g uni-d x100 mm strip on each side and it would probably still flex a little.

Tested it out today. Touch downs and surface riding much smoother and less resistance.
Plus I love the bright color.

Nice work as usual. How do you like the hooks compare to straps?

How do you get your carbon strips so neat ? Is it a carbon tape that has a binder in it ?

I used one front strap for 6 first sessions, and had so much hassle getting my foot into it while in water, with 5 mm rubber boots. An the crash videos with straps looked scary.
The hooks are infinitely easier when water starting, give some small leverage and location when flying and touch downs, but can also move my feet around if I want to.

The trick is to seal the blank with resin first, then mark out where Uni tape will go using a builders laser on a tripod. Then using composite spray glue, spray onto blank, then position the tape super carefully and accurate with laser as guide. Then I pour a small bead of epoxy onto each tape and spread it out lightly with finger and let it sit 3 minutes to absorb into tape. Then I dribble a bit more on and squeegie with finger ( in gloves). Finally I use small rubber squeegie.
Let cure. Then sand any high spots carefully.
Lam as usual.

Actually these ones are not that clean. Close up they are fuzzy edged, hairs have spread around. That's really hard to avoid. Basically you have to avoid manipulation them as much as possible after wet-out.

They are 15mm tow fiber tape with a binder. Super flat and relatively inexpensive. They are available in 25 mm too.

I want to try infusing a uni fabric onto a glass sheet. Cut strips with a Stanley blade as you will have a perfectly clean edge. Glue onto board (prolly vac bag) and then lam as usual

Interesting idea. you can get wide sheet of uniD, it's cheaper and you can cut it to width.
You dont need to infuse it. Just make weight estimate of your Cf then mix up 100% of weight in epoxy and then spread it out and squeegie it into Cf. Uni D takes more resin according to info from supplier. Also, I've read infusing Uni d is difficult.

And slice it into 5, 200mm wide strips and laminate 3 on bottom, 2 on top and then 2x 200g glass both sides, plus 1-2 glass tail patches on bottom. Be super stiff and robust I bet.

I'd probably want to vbag it though. Which would mean I'd first laminate the bottom with 1 layer glass with rail overlapp to stabilize the foam shape. Then vbag the cf on the bottom, lam over the Cf. Then flip it and v-Bag the cf on deck and handlayup to rest of the glass.

^^ This. We infused a single layer of spread tow onto glass, then cut out with a Stanley knife to get a super crisp edge.

@rynhardt that's exactly what I wanna do ... By the way what fabric is that and where did you get it ?

I infuse 5 layers 300 gsm carbon all the time with no problems
