Washing your kite after the season is up

Ok I know this has been brought up many times.
But I was bored and I thought I would see others thoughts.
After the summer I tend to pack my kites up for at least a couple months maybe 5 months.
I go home inflate and blow out with an air hose.
I know fresh water will mold and I'm flying in salt water.
Should I rinse off with fresh water and let dry
Or leave the salt water on it?
What's the effect of the salt water to the stitching?
This has always been a good question to ask since we have more money in our kites then our cars.
