I'm planning on being out to Eagle/Vail a few times this winter.Thought of driving over to Frisco if conditions are good. I know winds can go many ways ,but is there a most used kite size or two that might cover the wind range ? I don't want to carry 3 or more . Is there a Lake Dillon condition site? Thx.

6 to 9m for kiting passes, 9 to 15 for the lake. On the lake you can nearly always get moving with a smaller kite, but a bigger kite means more hangtime. No lake conditions site that I'm aware of but once it freezes in January, it's solid through March or April.

Anton from coloradokiteforce.com has a Twitter feed that he regularly posts lake conditions during the winter. You can find it on his website. I believe he lives right there in Silverthorne.

Fresh snow but not enough yet, unless you live by steamboat. Maybe another week or two to go.

Yes!!!!!
The RMP ice skating was reportedly good this past weekend (read: not enough snow to ski; at least it's cold). BUT sensors are showing fresh 9" plus more today, tonight, tomorrow. It's finally happening.
I've been trying to avoid the itch by pedaling the mtn bike in this 60 degree weather but soon we can throw the switch. I just hope that all the public lands aren't sold off to the highest bidder before we get enough coverage...

Grand Mesa turn off for lands end. 30" of powder no pack. Still very rocky. Skill level intermediate to expert untill at least 1 more foot of cover. Winds out of the north 15 mph +

Snow Mesa report...
Went up to Snow Mesa yesterday. The trail has enough snow to skin from the parking lot at the top of Spring Creek Pass.
The top part of the trail hasn't filled in yet and is pretty rocky. The kiting was good as long as you stayed in the deeper blow over places. Probably don't want to take your new skis up yet.
Johnny and I are going down on Saturday with the sleds, will probably get about half way up the trail but it will be scratchy.
Fun day for the end of November!
Looking forward to a good season.

Thanks for the update Scott. I was just looking at the CODOT picture for Spring Creek pass this morning and it was looking pretty good.

I've got new gear coming in next week and might be looking for some place to go next Saturday (the 10th).

Congrats on getting out!

Nate
