This is very broad question because you do not state usage other than snowkite + foil. So I think open cell and closed cell foils are the options you want to know more about. There are many product lines within the mentioned kite brands for different usage and with different characteristics. Also you don't state if you are looking for new or second hand kites because with second hand you have option for previous year models etc.

Brand new kites:
Flysurfer line: (Viron2 trainer), Peak2, Speed4, Sonic-FR
Ozone line: (Ignition trainer), Access, Frenzy, Summit, Chrono, R1

So are you background skiing with kite-lift? Snow freestyling, airstyle or wakestyle? Hangtime / Racing? Which class of kite you are looking for? What kind of durability (ease of maintenance, bridle durability) from your kite you are looking for? Stability in gusty winds?

Most wide-usage kites IMO would be Speed4 and Frenzy. So maybe you are looking either of these?

Joriws,

thanks for the clarification.

I have just lately picking up snow kiting. My background is kitesurfing. And I am looking forward to enjoy freeride in the open country, with my kite and snow board. I have just retired and would not frenzy for high jump, but enjoy fast speed ride.

Agree that the speed 4Lotus, and the FRENZY are the most top notch in the market.
Which one you think is better in this case?

I think I need a speed machine that perform well in upwind, and absorb gusty.

Sorry I cannot really say that because I don't have any experience with modern Frenzy. I've ridden 2005-2006 Frenzy 5m a couple of times year ago :)

In my opinion (=guessing) pros for Speed4 over similar sized Frenzy could/would be:
- closed cell foil =>
* better upwind angle with better speed because of better lift/drag ratio
* less snow into cells which add kite flying weight and requires removing of snow (I've never emptied Flysurfer in 5 years but with open cells I have even multiple times in a set)
* kite holds shape longer in gusts/holes => perhaps better drift and gust handling
* summer bonus (you said kitesurfer background), I use Speed4 15m2 as my light wind machine all year
- Guarantee
* Ozone is not famous of their guarantee, at least few people in this forum are complaining about it. Truth is?
* I've no problems with Flysurfer directly or via local importer. FS upgraded guarantee to 12 month free-repair.

Unknown for me:
- safety features of the bar
- pack sizes of similar sizes
- turn rates of similar sizes (and how much you want to emphasize of it)
- durability of kite & bridles & lines but you state you don't want to jump so much

Much Thanks for the very useful comments.

I think I will choose the Flyserver speed 4. I have an Ocean Edge 15m, it was not very durable..

First off. Frenzy is open Cel and speed is closed. Open cell is easier to launch and land...... but you can take the closed cell on the water.

Summit is the closest to performance to speed in the open cell.

But.... If you want to go fast choose a chrono!... that kicks the f's speeds arse for going fast. I haven't ridden the sonic so I can't comment on that.

Thanks for the advice.

What is the effect and differences of closed cells and open cells, performancewise?

Lately, I come across Concept kite. What is your opinion?

Given the creator of this threads lack of basic knowledge between the various kites a high AR, race wing like the Chrono would be a bad choice. And comparing Chronos to speeds is like apples to oranges. The Speeds AR these days is much lower than a Chrono. More close to a Matrixx 2.

Closed cell foils are usable on water and then to hold their shape in lulls. Open cells are for now water environment.

The Sonic has a very different feel from the Chrono. Similar performance.
