Yeah. What kind of speeds do you reach doing either land kiting or land windsurfing?

I wouldnt go faster than 40 k´s on a mountainboard with kite ? Otherwise you need a stylish fullbody leather underall !
What board are you using ??

Thanks. I am trying to decide whether to use a kite (which means I would have to buy the equipment) or buy one of those boards with the windsurfer attachments. Either way I will have to buy a land board.

you'll feel safer on a windsurf-landboard.
with the kiteboard, you're hooked to the harness and have to get all the pressre through your legs without having a real edging feeling.
if you don't care for style and feeling but look for speed, go for the windsurfer!

So with a kite you look more stylish? What do you mean by feeling? I assume that it is much easier to pull air's with a kite but I don't really care about that since I can't even do that on the water with my windsurfer. Thanks for your help.
You haven't ever heard of building your own board. I figured that if I took old bike tires (12" about 30 cm). Welded or attached a extension(metal of some sort) to regular skateboard trucks (to make the trucks wider and more capable of handling larger wheels). Built my own board and put on the trucks and wheels I would save my self a budle of money from having to buy a board with everything.
I am wondering if with a wider axel on my skateboard trucks I would get speed wobbles easier. I don't know how well turning would work either. Any questions anybody could answer would be very helpful

regular skate trucks wont hold. they will bend as soon as you step on them. check out
http://www.earthoards.com they have some skate trucks that are 15 inches wide that will not bend as soon as you step on them. they also have some nice mountainboards that are very light. only 13 pounds.

What do you mean they will bend? Even if I weld an extended axle to them. the axle would have to be strong metal of some sort.

skate trucks were not made to hold up to the punishment of off-road boarding. if you used a longer axles, it would have to be like titanium or something. earthboard also sells skate truck axle extensions, but i have never used them, so i don't know how well they work.
later,
rob
