I have demo the 12 with the high Y connection.
the video shows
1- quick looping kite
2- it looks that the winds were light, maybe below 10 knots

Question for North. Is the Mono designed to use the low v or high y connection? The pictures posted on the Mono page looks like low v.

cheers

I have one in hand , I'll be able to demo it very soon , the wind is way too strong for the moment here . I weighed it today : 2017 North Mono 15 meters : 3.56 kg .

I demoed the 15 today , Ozone 50 cm bar and 24 meters lines . Amazingly fast for a 15 , very light in the air . Same weight than my 12 Neo but feel lighter .
I was on a sector 60 , wind 5 to 15 knots with gusts up to 20 .Half depower at 15 and full at 20 . This is definitely a kite for light wind , pulls a lot over 18 .
Very powerfull kite , got on a plane in very light wind I would say a littlle under 10 knots .
The kite had a slight tendency to backstall but nothing too bad , My back lines were adjusted to the middle knot , I will adjust it to the longest setting next time .

Recently tried the new Mono 15m kite with 24m lines.
12-14 knots of wind, flat water, heavyish 90Kg rider on a 2013 Nugget 5.5 borrowed on the beach.
The kite turns like a pretty fast 12m and feels light in the air. Upwind performance poor to mediocre from shape (typical wave) but slightly helped by lightness of kite in the air due to the one strut construction. The lack of side struts is pretty obvious when moving the kite towards the edge of window where starts to flap towards the tips, I personally don't like that.
It's an easy kite to fly, it needs to be kept high on window to generate decent pull and to avoid drifting in light winds.
I'd say it's dull, but I guess it all depends from the use you are looking for.
It will be a good kite I guess to go up and down on a foil for a heavy rider on really light winds, or to freeride on a surfboard I guess, but a foil kite would be a better option.
It's not a performance kite, lacks in character as it doesn't excel in anything.. it's just a lighterweight option than the Juice, that's all.
If you are into lightwind upwind, jumping, hangtime or racing it's not the kite for you...
I'd put a freeride newbie that starts to enjoy freeriding up and down in light winds, even on the heavy side, yes :)
Not for me ;)

mrmoon , I do own this 15 and everything you said is about what it is . I have to say that this kite for a one strut is quite stable though .Yes I need to keep it high upwind powered up with a big board but it behaves good . I would imagine that every one and no strut kites behave this way ? There is always a price to pay somewhere when you do compromise I guess . For me this is a big light wind wave kite . I would certainly pick something else if my goal would be to jump .

Agree with you buddy, and I think it's a good compromise too for light wind wave riding.
My only reference would be a 2007 (I think?) Wainman Big Mama 15m, which was ultra heavy due to a bomb proof / 3 struts construction but also ultra slow in turning compared to the new Mono. My light wind wave riding now goes up to a NEO 11m and a Nugget CSC 5.3 but it also depends on local conditions.

early bird...how did you like flying Mono on Ozone bar? Have you tried North bar? I have flown Mono 12m with Ozone and North 5 line bar ..couldn't see the difference..
