Relaunching to deep in the wind window... Also looks like the rider had the bar the wrong way round and could not steer the kite right.

I always take the tension out of the lines and hold the kite upside down for a beat. Then either I more the kite to the edge of the wind window or make the rider move to the right spot. Then hold up the kite lik a regular assisted launch so the rider checks the lines and then gives the tumbs up.

This is really important in shallow water because the compact sand is as hard as cement just a few inches under water.

Glad you were not hurt too bad and the rider was lucky the kite did not generate to much power.

Thanks for posting the video.

sadly too common picture on the beaches...

first, the riders who have decent experiences in riding, yet still not having a clue where to stay during the launch and too often have a passive position in launch, like not taking the full lift force of the kite on their harness hooks, not positioning themselves right in relation with the wind window

second, clueless launch assistants, like girlfriends , bystanders, children and the equally ignorant kiters...

somebody just had a day of his year, a video and the pathetic little scar to brag about it

I just found it on YouTube, the victim's arm almost looks lacerated at the end.
