Hi Paul,
I can hook you up with a fantastic newly built 3 bedroom villa just minutes from Kite Beach and from the airport (Vieux Fort). with a nice view of the ocean, and the pitons. I go there every year and have a blast! It's my friends house and he works out of the country for 6 months at a time. You can rent it for 1 week, 2 weeks, 4 weeks, etc. It's available from Mid October 08, to April 09, which is pretty much the Windy season in St. Lucia.
Since the place is 3 bedrooms if you can get some friends together it will make it even more affordable for everyone. The price right now is $600USD a week, or $1000 for 2 weeks, or $1800 for a month. All prices are based on double occupancy. It's $50/person extra over that so again if you get some friends to go it's a heck of a deal. The reason for the low price is because basically this is your home for the time of your stay so there is no maid service, or extras like that, that some places give you, but charge for. I find most kiters would rather have the low rates and do there own dishes, cleanup, etc.
I can post some photos of the accommodations if you like just PM me for more info...

www.slucia.com , The Reef kitesurfing centre has accomodation right on the beach front.
If they are full or whatever reason ask them about the place available just up the road, cant remeber the name of the place, has several 1 or 2 bedroom houses for rent, maybe its the crab shack or something, mid blank on the name, the guys at the reef will point you in the right direction.

Im also considering St Lucia for a kite trip and would be interested in seeing pictures of the house. We are a couple looking for kite destination 8-9 day vacation from 12/27 to Jan 5th.
It looks like this place offers a bay, can someone comment on if you can ride flat water or work your way out for some waves ? Any shallow water ? The place looks amazing, not sure if we can handle a place with no night life for 8 days though
Also considering returning to Barbados or something in the BVI's. Any other recomendations for that area would be appreciated.
Thanks for the response

the spot in the south has very little shallow water, mostly deep and with chop and a small shorebreak.
If you want nightlife you are best to stay up in the north (or do half down south and half up north) in rodney bay area and kite at cas en bas beach, cas en bas has flat water behind the reef and bump and jump chop further across the bay. does get gusty on the inside on a NE wind. Lessons and gear rental available at both these spots. cas en bas has a little shallow water also.
www.kitesurfingstlucia.com is the website for the school up in the north, she has a few good pics of the beach on her website.
Cotton Bay hotel is right on the beach-front there at cas en bas
