Hi
I would like to go to NE coast of Brazil in November and want to hook up with kiteboardes and a kite school or club there.
I am a beginner but can ride , will need someone to watch me .
Should I take my own gear or rent it there?
Can anyone recommend a place to stay?

Hi Tatiana,

No worries, you will find plenty of kiters here.
There are also plenty of instructors who will take care of your first sessions until you feel comfortable on the water.
I would recommend bringing your own gear.
Cumbuco is a good place. There are plenty of pousadas and apartments here. It all depends on your budget, if you come alone or with friends/family, age etc.
Good hotels/pousadas are Casa Banana, Cumbuco Guesthouse, Duro Beach, Jardim De Cumbuco (in alphabetic order) and the list goes on...
Good apartments are for rent in Dreambeach Ocean View or Jardim Reale.
See you on the water.

yes, tons of kiters to hook up with. Book a room in a pousada (gueshouse) and you will be in touch quickly.
Some offer services to watch you while on the water, cheaper than a lesson.
Some places rent gear, but I would bring my own, this will give you more confidence in your gear and it will not be cheaper than overweight on a plane...

See you soon!

I can recommend Windtown Beach Resort! Very nice beach front place to stay. When you stay there the kite storage and kite service on the beach is included! Also they have a school and rentals!
It's the best place to stay if you look at tripadvisor:

Send me your email. I have an email I sent to a friend with a ton of links and places to stay. I will email them to you.

I'm also from Toronto but a live and work in Brasil. If you have you gear I would also bring it (As Toby said)

You will meet tons of people!

Hi all,

I'm planning to go to Cumbuco in the second half of September with a friend. My friend is a beginner (starting from 0) and I learned kiting last year on open sea. I can waterstart, go upwind, make turns with no problems...by the time I'll go to Cumbuco I'll have kited at least 30 hours on open sea.

We are considering renting an apartment, as is cheaper than a hotel. I have my own kite material (12m, 80kg), but will probably have to rent a smaller kite.

As I do not qualify myself as an advanced kiter, I was wondering who is looking after you in Cumbuco. At my local kite club, when someone is in trouble on the water, that person will get assistance from someone of the staff by dingy or jetski. How does this work in Cumbuco? Does one have to buy "day passes" at kite clubs as to make use of their rescue services (as well compressor)? Is there a rescue service that you pay only after they helped you out? Are there pousadas who look after you?

Cheers!

Hi everyone!
In this site you'll have information about all the spots in the northeast of Brazil: http://www.freeridekitesurf.com/en/kite ... ts/brazil/

If you need any assistance in the organisation of your trip to Brazil, they can help you with anything.

All the best for everyone
