My best kiting in the whole or ecuador-peru-bolivia trip was in mancora. But I kinda rushed through so didn't have many opportunities. Do yourself a favour and try a couple of days surfing in chicama, the longest wave in the world. hmm cant remember the name but there's a kiting spot just north of it too.

Best wave spots in Peru: Pacasmayo and Lobitos. Mancora is a good wave but its one wave on one point, its gets very busy and i've never surfed any where worse for people dropping in on you whilst you're on the wave. Lobitos and Pacasmayo have same conditions or better, cheaper, more low key. Mancora is good for bars, food and partying. There's a reason why Pacasmayo was only one of a few spots in the world included in the wave kiting world tour. It is so good.

I travelled 3 weeks in Ecuador but didn't find any good kite spots. Loads had potential but i guess i went at the wrong time - March.
hope this helps

How is December and January for wind in Peru? What are best beaches? What's a good alternative to Peru for those months, but Brasil, which we all know is great! Need those places to be g-friend friendly:) I ride waves, strapless, my buddies are TT riders. Appreciate all thoughts! M>

Lago Calima is apparently windy almost the entire year, I was there a few weeks back in November for 11 days and I could sail every day, most days a 9.5 was great, tended to be overpowered more than underpowered.

In Ecuador there is a spot called Santa Marianita which is pretty good, lighter winds than Calima though, very quiet beach. You can also kite 30 mins along the coast in Manta, which is a bigger town.

As mentioned Mancora is great.

In December and January I hear the north of Colombia is the place to go, around Cartagena, also a spot called El Cabo, in the Guajira desert is meant to be amazing. There is an island called San Andres which is also windy at that time of year. This is all what people have told me in Calima though, I haven't been personally.

Hi,

I'm just back of a trip on peruvian northshore and there are very good spots if you are a waverider. Lobitos is the most famous here but there are Cabo Blancillo, Tres Cruces, Baterias and Mancora (only with big swell). It's safe too to learn on North of Peru, Mancora Point and Los Organos are very safe and better for freestyle ;)

And in December there's no problem with wind I think

I did trips with Wild K school, french owner, and He's got a 4wd, perfect to do some trips, and I didn't travel with my board, and I could rent one in his school :)
Very cool guy

Have fun in Peru.

We made the following video from our stay in Los Organos, near Mancora.
Great combination of clean morning surf and afternoon kitesurfing (15-20kn daily).
Irie!

Lobitos also looks great, although slightly off-shore and more remote.
