Where in Caribbean first week of April

Looking for a place with surf (not necessarily huge) but breaking on sand or rock as opposed to coral. I'm interested in improving my surf skills. Flat water too, for people learning.
Non-kiter friendly with nice accommodations, ideally a 2BR unit on the beach.
This past spring we went to Cabarete the 2nd week of March and everyone (4 couples) had a blast. Two of us were kiters and one took lessons. Wind blew every day 12m.
Stayed at the Millennium which was fantastic, 2BR/2.5BA, full kitchen, super clean, great location and great rates. We shared the 2BR with another couple.
Next spring we will go with some of the same people but we will take out daughter and her friend (teenagers). We may just go back to the DR and stay at the same place, it was so good, but ...
I think there are other good places and like the idea of trying something different.
Any suggestions?
I've seen Exuma, Bahamas mentioned on another thread. How would that be?
What about Puerto Rico that time of year? Is there a wave spot not breaking over a coral reef appropriate for intermediate riders?
