Are you pregnant or planning on becoming pregnant?
Other than that there is really no reason no to travel. The effect of the virus is really very mild, I have read that most people who have had it did not even know they had it.

What is your concern with it... specifically?

No one knows much but I think it affects the developing foetus and you are a guy (unless you nickname is a deterrent). Also a guy did give it to his spouse through sexual contact (Is it in Texas?). So you can leave your pregnant significant other at home during your kite trip but then if you can give it to her upon your return it is not cool...

Cheers

You should talk to a doctor about your concerns.

My understanding is that the virus is only dangerous to an unborn baby if the mother is infected with the virus while she is pregnant or becomes pregnant while she is infected with the virus.
In other words...
If you and your partner are currently pregnant or currently trying to get pregnant then I would certainly avoid traveling to the Caribbean.
Other than that it is still pretty safe.
That being said there have been 3 deaths in Columbia. The people who died had Guillain-Barre disorder and died after being infected with the Zika virus. Guillain-Barre disorder is not usually fatal but it seems people with this disorder can die if they get the Zika virus.
