Dear all,
I am planning a family kitetrip on end juli in Portugal from lissabon to porto. I have read a lot of posts about but I am quite confused. Since i will reserve for kite only five days of 15 it is important that i sleep close to consistent spot.
Plan is :
Troia
Cascais
Peniche-obidos
Figueira de foz
Aveiro lagoon
Porto
Which of the places can be considered consistent spot (wind 4bft 70%) ?
Or are there consistent spot close to?
I have read that kitesurf is forbidden in obidos lagoon close to the beach.can you kite elsewhere in the lagoon?
Tanks and best regards

Hello!
Ive only been to some of these places, Penice, Porto and Cascais. And I think the only one with 70% wind probability is Guinco, about 10 kilometer north of Cascais.
Its a place for the experienced kiter, with sometimes big swell and some rocks. It has a microclimate where the wind accelerates around the bay and its usually stronger the forecasted.
I think kiting is also restricted in Penice, where you can't kite near beach, or closer to a 100 meters of it.

Your biggest chance to get wind is Guincho, which is a couple of kilometers north of Cascais. It can range from rather mellow to very strong wind and powerful waves. It can have wind when the rest of the coast has a mellow breeze due to thermal effects of the Sintra mountains. When Guincho is blown out Costa da Caparica on the South Side of the river Tejo can be an option.

Hi all!
I'm from Brazil and have been living in Portugal since Aug/15.
I've tried different places here to go kiteboarding. I'll list below (from South to North or Portugal) some spots I've been to:
1) Lagoa de Albufeira (Sesimbra) - Lake/Beach
2) Alcochete - River
3) Praia Fonte da Telha - Beach
4) Praia do Guincho - Beach
5) Foz do Arelho (Óbidos) - Lake
6) Esposende - River/Beach
7) Praia de Cabedelo (Viana do Castelo) - Beach
I hope this help you.
Have a nice trip!!
Rafael.

Hello,
Guincho is the most consistent spot of wind and waves in Europe in summer, season is from May to September, sometimes extends to October, strong winds most of the summer from 16 to 60 knots, 25 to 35 knots on most days. waves go from 1m to 5m but the usual is 1m to head high and 6 to 9m kites are usual sizes to use. You need to be a good kiter or you risk having problems, as the wind is a bit gusty some days, advanced level is recomended, not the spot to have classes or be a beginner, in can be costly for you and others around you.
If you look for acomodation we run a Guest house just 2.5km from Guincho beach, in Cascais, we also have a shop and rent equipment for kite, sup, surf, windsurf.
So drop us an email and we will get back to you with prices.
