Denmark

Postby jrdnc » Fri Jul 01, 2016 12:35 am

HI

I am travelling to Denmark in about 2 weeks and will primarily be based in Copenhagen, but am considering spending a few days at Hvide Sande if its looking good. We are also considering a trip over to Sweden to kite Falsterbo. I have researched several good kite spots in close proximity to CPH but keen to hear some recommendations from any locals on here.

I will have a hire car and am keen to meet up with some locals for some kiting sessions and beers :jump:

Cheers

CJ

Hi,
Live in Malmö and Vejbystrand for last 32 years, kiting 14 years. Check winds on windguru app or site. DMI ( DANISH METEOROLOGICAL INSTITUTE) has good app too. Winds are low pressure driven now. Follow the wind.
West coast of Denmark around Klitmöller can get good waves and flatwater fjords like Hvide Sande too. Long drive from Copenhagen.
If you travel to Falsterbo peninsula you must pay attention to where you are allowed to kite. If to don't we will be really pissed, one incident can mess up years of access work with the authorities. Attaching files so you can see. This is closest and covers wind from all directions.
You can slso kite at Lomma beach or close by Habo Ljung Camping. Just north of malmö. these are local kite beaches with endless shallows and flat water. 40 km further north is JP. Same kind of conditions. Further along west coast are some epic spots like Lagan river mouth ( lagansmynning) and Appleviken near Varberg. Check Splocs.
Lomma beach house is where you will hook up with locals.

Also check the map for sydvestpynten: http://kitemekka.net/Kitespot.aspx?nr=949, i.e. do not go left at sydvestpynten.
