Hey,
i read that you can buy now also as an foreigner a sim card in Brazil ? (The changed in 2014 because of the worldcup?)
Do you know is it possible to buy directly at the airport (RIO or Fortaleza)?
Thanks

Everyone can buy a SIM card in Brazil.
Problem is (was), that you need to activate it with a brazilian CPF (tax) number.
I didn't hear anything that they changed it...but could be because of the worldcup (would make sense...but hey, it is Brazil!).
Will try to find out...but maybe someone knows for sure?

Would love to know this as well. I'm hoping to use the internet through my cellphone on my trip south.

Thanks for fast reply.
I read on a German blog that they sold cards for foreigner and you can activate with your identity card.

But this news are from 2014... didnt find something newer. So that was because I am asking, maybe they stopped this after the worldcup....

A friend of mine just bought a card and had to activate it with a CPF...so looks like it is not possible...but, maybe the main sponsor was a phone company and only them have this for foreigners...
But, you ask the owner of the place you stay at and they can activate it for you...should be no problem.

so you just gave your ident card number?
Did you have to choose between Brazilian and foreigner to register?
