Asia, February, safe spot

Postby kosbr » Sun Nov 13, 2016 9:39 am

Hello,

I'm trying to make a choice about spot to go with family in February. My child is too small, so I want it to be safe.

My demands are following:
  • No crazy kiters near the beach (like Muine, Vietnam)
  • Not too far from south Asia (Vietnam, Thailand, Hainan and near)
  • Wind 7 - 13 ms
  • Hotel about 3* near the beach (to get to the spot without bike)
If somewhere near a wave spot exists it is a plus for me.

I've read a lot of information about it, but I still don't know where to go. I've been thinking about following spots:
  • Muine, Vietnam - dangerous
  • Phan rang, Vietnam - too strong wind (5m2 kite neccessary for 75 kg)
  • Nha Trang, Vietnam - no wind.
  • Hainan - no wind.
  • Thailand, Hua Hin - no wind.
  • Thailand, Koh Phangan - no wind.
No wind, I mean it is something like 5ms about 50% days. The rest days are quite.

The problem I faced that I see that there are a lot of places for riding, however only a few of them are well described. So I predict I have not so correct information about spots I listed above and some other spots exist which are proper for me. Could you help me finding the best spot for me and my family? I'm sure you have enough experience.

Thank you in advance :)

Hi,

I'm not 100% sure but I think February in Se Asia is simply the wrong time of year for a kiting holiday. A quick google search shows the trade winds tend to be May - October (which is over the Australian winter cooincidentally). I know we travel to Indonesia and Fiji for kiting trips and generally august is the best. You probably have to work within the overall weather patterns for a kite trip.

I can tell you that if you travel to Perth, Western Australia's in feb is will still be hot and windy with plenty of waves. We get wind everyday in the summer from midday to sunset, 18-25 knots. Our season is October to march. Come visit us !

We have world class kiting available and if you are prepared to travel, you can easily find uncrowded spots.

You want to check out Kantuan, Malaysia, when monsoon brings steady winds from January til May.

February? Kingfisher resort Northern Philippines. You should check them out on FB. Great resort. February is wind season there with winds from 20 to 45kts. Im looking for a place to go too with a 3year old and a 2 months year old. And based on my previous experience there, I might just go back... Dispite a total flight time of over 20hrs from Amsterdam.

Hello, I'm planning a month trip kiting and sightseeing in Asia, as I'm traveling on budget can you suggest me a cheap living place with good wind and nice atmosphere? I was thinking about Sri Lanka, how is in August? Any advice is welcome!

Yeah...what happens in Perth? Is it like Las Vegas? Sounds like a fun place with a super boring name..

Try Boracay in the Philippines..wind should be good to March..Kid friendly(depends where you stay just like anywhere)
