Mexican Riviera in April

Postby snmhanson » Mon Jan 23, 2017 11:05 pm

I am going to be staying on the beach in Akumal during the first week of April with my family and friends. Is that typically still considered kiteboarding season down there or do the winds tend to be light during that time of the year? I've searched this site and other sites and I am getting conflicting information. FWIW, my biggest kite is a 12m and I ride a twin tip. At around 190-195 lbs I'm not the lightest guy in the world so I am usually on a kite 1-2 meters larger than some of the smaller guys. Winds of 15 mph or greater are usually what I need for a successful session. Just want to avoid the hassle and cost of bringing my gear along if the chance of getting to use it is slim. If I do bring gear I am thinking a 9 and 12 meter kite and maybe getting my hands on a light wind board would be best.

Thanks for any advice!
