Anyone going to be in Central American this next month?

Postby Adventure Logs » Thu Jan 26, 2017 4:16 pm

I'm currently in Guatemala right now but I'll be moving on in the next couple days. I'm driving a motorcycle to Argentina and it would be cool to meet up other kiters and check out some of the spots. So if you are at a good kiteboard spot or just want to grab a beer and hang, let me know where you are at and I can most likely drive through.

Did you find any good kiting in Guatemala? Rio Dulce? Isbal?

I've went to Rio Dulce a few years ago, but not with kiting gear. Good wind and conditions, but I didn't see anyplace that you could launch.

I'm currently in San Pedro on Lake Atitlan and hopefully going to get some kiting in tomorrow. There's no beaches on the lake so launching is going to be interesting. I'm sticking to the pacific coast mostly on the way south and on the way north hit the Atlantic side.

I'm thinking about it. In the next couple days I'm going to come up with a plan of action on where I'm going to hit. I would like to stick to the pacific side but if the wind sucks I have no problem switching coasts.

My wife's family has a place on the Rio Dulce. My brother in law says he sees people kiting in front of the house almost daily. He thinks it's a kite tour that boat launches, but I haven't been able to find any information about who it may be. The Rio seems like it would be great kiting. I'd like to go back there when we have time and see what I can find out. Have a great trip.

I have 2 kites, and Nobile split hydrofoil and twintip. All fits in a check in size bag. Took awhile to figure how to pack down and get rid of things though. Check out my blog, some good pics on how loaded I was in the beginning lol.

Grate blog; I enjoyed the part through Michoacan and wonder if you kited in "la ventosa" (the areas near Salina Cruz, Oaxaca) it has a lot of wind and I want to go there at some point. We have a school in Progreso Yucatán (Yuckite) and excellent areas to kite (if you want to visit on your way north). Have a good trip.

haha looks epic...I know how it is from Indonesia and I wanna try the same route as you but I think a 4x4 is a better idea if I want to get the whole quiver onboard !
