Postby Theboy » Sat Nov 04, 2017 6:56 pm

Hi kite friends :bye:

I am thinking maybe to visit Kahului, Maui in november.

Someone with experiences ? for sure yes
I think, what I have seen only from videos and pictures, that Hawaii is dream kite spot...

thanx

November is a great month for waves + winds. Great right breaks. If I wasn't goofy this would be my favorite place and time.

You can stay out of the wave zone but it would be choppy at Kanaha ,same as to the south side if it works ,wind wise . You can stick your toe in and run if its not your thing with the waves. The waves can get big from now through the winter !

Can't speak from experience in the fall. I was out there in August and loved the place. Conditions reminded me of a less crowded Cabarete. There's giant green sea turtles that feed on the rocks and occasionally pop up for air from time to time. The wind was cranking the whole week I was there, there were some days it was actually too windy for the kite I brought. Locals were very friendly and helpful. Apparently there's a problem with people picking their way through unattended cars, but I didn't have any issues with that. Just park where other people park and have some common sense. Not that hard.

If you're looking for flatwater, your best bet on Maui is down in Kihei. There's a place on the north side of town where people kite when the wind's out of the south or north. I never kited there while I was there because the wind was way stronger there than it was up at Kahului. I'd have been overpowered for sure. I don't know if the wind stays like that in fall or not. If it does though, bring smaller kites than you think you'll need for Kahului. Oh, and it's a bit rocky there. Kite safely.
