Downwinder in Pompano Beach, FL. Where to launch?

Postby Topaz » Tue May 29, 2018 4:36 pm

Hello South Floridians, I'd like to try a downwinder with N-NE winds finishing in NE 16th St, Pompano Beach.

So, where can I launch without being kicked out by life guards or other aggressive forms of beach life?

I was thinking in doing a short one first, maybe from Hillsboro or Deerfield Beach, and maybe after that from Boca or Delray Beach.
Also, what if I have to touch land on those expensive private properties north of the inlet? Big trouble there? Or they don't care?

Thanks

I’d start in Delray or Spanish River.
I would t worry too much about the private home owners, the beach is for everyone.

I'll just leave this here....

"The Health Department in Pompano Beach said “Everyone knows to wear shoes on the beach because you can get parasites.” I assured them everyone does NOT KNOW THAT!!"

So one unlucky kid, who who knows what he was into, got some itching worm and we should stop kiting in that gorgeous spot?

Seems kind of alarmist to me. Better for us. We'll get less tourists. Hopefully they'll go to Colorado. :jump:

Thanks man. I was thinking in something shorter, but I may try those spots to start.
And keep praying for wind. May has been good. June and July have been very bad.

As far as I know that's one of the few spots left not controlled by the IKO mafia, just don't forget to wear shoes
