Socialists destroy medical care and education...there is a reason the U.S. is #1 in research and development and education, and it isn't because of socialism...I'll never understand how people trust massive wasteful bureaucracies and corrupt politicians to fix things...Socialized medicine is a nightmare everywhere it is tried.

Where on earth do you get your facts from? Education is #1 in the US? That's laughable.....

And if you've never lived outside of the US, how is it you are certain that socialized healthcare is inferior? From personal experience I can tell you that it is not.....Americans have been brainwashed for decades to believe it's a mistake to go this route simply so that those that continue to suppress it get richer......there are otherwise product people living in the US who earn lots of money through hard work that simply cannot get insurance because of a pre-existing condition, no matter what they are willing to pay for it. Can't wait until I hear how you twist and spin that as a great thing for America's citizens..... :bye:

so much passion with no point, Oldtimer...

where was your experience w/socialized Healthcare?
I know that I was in Vermont this winter and had the oppertunity
to listen to Canadian Radio where the talkshow host just bashes the USA while
the very next segment of news on the same station
explains that Dentists are forced to turn down gov't insured kids with tooth problems
cause they are making a pittance on what the Socialized Healthcare system pays

i believe that typically dental and eye exams arent covered by the healthcare, and i think the point was they were hoping for more funding so those without the money or extra insurance would be able to get dental coverage.

anyway, explain to me how its better in the USA?

hmmm, i wonder whats gonna happen tomorrow with the beach access

OldTimer - Spot on. We even have a popular TV game show here called "Are you smarter than a 5th grader?". It's truly embarrassing to be an American sometimes...

Vin - I've lived in England and France, and have visited dozens of other countries including a trip to Eastern Canada last Summer. On three occasions I, or my wife, have needed medical attention while overseas and I've got to tell you the "average joe" gets much better medical care in the UK, Europe and Canada than the "average joe" gets here in the US. Yes, it's true that you can get the best medical care in the world at facilities like the Cleveland Clinic, but only if you can afford it. For millions of Americans who either have crappy medical insurance or none at all, medical care here in the US isn't anywheres near the same high level of quality I experienced in Canada, England and France. I wouldn't judge a country's medical care by listening to a talk show about it, where there's freedom of speech people will complain. But having witnessed their medical system versus our own first hand, I've gotta say they've got us licked.

Fortunately, not everyone in the US thinks like this character Mulholland does, just the ones currently residing in the Whitehouse.

You don't have your facts straight. Dental care is not covered by the Canadian government. There are no " gov't insured kids with tooth problems ". Each citizen pays for Medical coverage and the amount he/she pays is based on income. It is very inexpensive though.

My dentist in Canada lived in million dollar house on the water and drove a 911.....

Actually, I live in the US.....by choice. It is a great country for all sorts of reasons but not for the way it treats some of its citizens.....and not for its healthcare or education. Some of the most brilliant and progressive minds are here, but on the whole the average citizen is far less versed in world affairs and is far behind the times in ways of thinking in contrast to those in the rest of the world.

Fortunately not everyone fails to recognize this and I believe that over time this will change. In the end, some balance between what exists in socialized countries and the US is likely the best case scenario.

Absolutely nothing, this thread has taken on a life of its own. Next topic will be foil vs. LEI...
