Thanks for posting Plummet. That is an ironic image, no kiters have been killed or apparently harmed by killer whales yet but a bunch of riders have been harmed and a number taken out by board leashes. You seem to have a lot of encounters in NZ, have there been injury accidents with orcas there? A surfer was said to have been bitten in northern California in the early 1970's and survived but that is about it for folks sliding on the water from what I could find? Was the guy riding in extreme wave conditions or something motivating leash use? I guess where you have orcas, you may well have white sharks too.

Theres another one. Orca's surfing a local surf break.

yeah there are some locals that use board leashes.... i refuse.. but conditions can be very hardcore and loosing your board in monster swell ain't nice.... none the less I opt for body drag option rather than board in the head.

No i'm not aware of killer whale attacks. but They like to eat sting rays and seals and dammit we look like a seal in the murky waters of a big surf break. I'm not about to find out how easily i'm mistaken for a seal.

Billie,

You seem to be stuck on labels and identifying behavior by race. I see your thread on "can blacks kite" was just deleted.

Because it was a white guy with a gun you seem to think it is ok to refer to him as a "redneck". "Redneck" is a derogatory term for Caucasian people and is just as racist as other names that are used for other races.

I know it seem different because it is about white people and there is a double standard in the US when it comes to the level of sensitivity allowed when reacting to racist comments.

Does it make you a racist?? Nope. It just make you seem ignorant no matter if you are white, black, brown, pink, rainbow......

Oh, ...and Happy Birthday on monday

I'm Ignorant on a LOT of things !
Really REALLY Savvy on a bunch of Others !!

This defines the difference for A Lot of Humans, & it's Good that we ALL don't think the same;
otherwise the sum totality of Man's knowledge, would still be back in the 12 century AD!

So There Ya have it (.)

Toby,

the fact that you would move this thread but delete the "can blacks kite" thread is an example of the double standard that is all too common.
