I take it there's some irony in that last sentence. If not, may I interest you in some of these here magic beans?Laughingman wrote:You are hosting a community, in return for hosting this community you get to sell advertisers access to us. Typically, they buy banners, and such, they don't get to control content of the site. That would be like a television news channel's content being influenced by the commercial advertisers.
Toby said a minimum of Euro850.00 (or the equivalent in another currency if some stupid people in some countries and their lazy occupants don't get their shit together to support/rescue the Euro).Jdizzle wrote:Shocking! A public forum to openly share opinions...yea right! Talk about hidden agendas! How much do Switch have to pay you to allow their posts

how come?Caesar wrote:@Switch- pay the silly fee if you want to advertise (and I do see your pimping posts as adverts too). Kiteforum is the biggest forum about kiting on the net
well, half of the number of clicks on kf is going to the Most Sexy Kite Picture thread, most probably.Caesar wrote:@Toby- I ran a similar site in the past (not a forum), charged advertisers and gave them access to the visitor stats.
It would be a good idea to post some up to date visitor numbers here so people stop whinging and understand how important this forum would be for them (edit: sorry, they know already, otherwise they wouldn't post here so persistently)
No worries mate, some people (and businesses too) live in their dream world, believing they can run a venture by spreading the word mouth to mouth.Toby wrote:and eliminate forums, magazines and everything that lives from advertising.

i don't even want to know what part of my post do you think could help to eliminate the forums and magazines. losing the Most Sexy... or losing the support for the paying brand's affiliated posters (otherwise known as pimps)...Toby wrote:and eliminate forums, magazines and everything that lives from advertising.

Well said eree, the commodity here are the users, and the users want diversity. Pretty pictures (ad banners) are one thing but when you allow people with bias opinions to post their opinions because they pay for advertising, eventually people will seek different avenues to gain reliable information. Which in turn will reduce traffic and eventually make this very same advertisers go someplace else, or simply spread the dollars around a bit, thus depleting Toby's travel fund....eree wrote:i don't even want to know what part of my post do you think could help to eliminate the forums and magazines. losing the Most Sexy... or losing the support for the paying brand's affiliated posters (otherwise known as pimps)...Toby wrote:and eliminate forums, magazines and everything that lives from advertising.

well, somehow tv cannels manage to survive advertizing the other tv stations and showing other channels videoclips, main thing here is attract viewers. then will come the ad buyers.
and as we currently see there are still lot of different magazines. it is diversity that is attracts people to by these products, not the specialty on narrow choice.
