Thanks guys. I be got 7/9/12. I'm going out this Saturday in marginal wind 16-22knots. Not real waves. Sounds like 23m is the way to go!!

Yesterday I test the upwind of the SST 12 2016. I followed a mate on his 15 meter Boots flysurfer on a twintip. I was on a alaia surfboard with smaill fins. The upwind is the same . The next test to compare with a NEO.

looking forward to your results!
I would be glad, if u can share it!

I want to start wave riding next year and looking for a good quiver to start with. At the moment i go out on my evos (7 / 9 / 12) but i'll think i'll switch either NEO or SST. At the moment i like the SST more - hope to get a 8 m² SST for going out in >16 kts with my directional.

thank you all for the replies - it really helped me!

I do not agree with your statement. I own a FS Boost v1 18m and a 2016 SST 12m as well as a lot of other kites. The SST sits VERY deep in the window and has nowhere near the upwind performance of even my 12m Rally. It's a completely different kite with completely different purpose.

Another question for you SST users...I've got a 2017 bar coming... 20" bar with 20m lines + 3m extensions. What do you all tend to fly your SSTs on? I know the theory behind shorter lines = more responsive but less power than longer lines. So what's best for the SST? I know it all depends on conditions, but what's the norm?? What should I start with???
I think it depends eben mode in personal preference than conditions. I like the quick turning from side to side with shorter lines. So I usually fly SSTs from 10 zu 5 m in the 20 Inch Bar with 20 m lines.

If I were you I would start with 20 inch bar and 23 m lines. Abd then just try with short lines and see what you prefer.

Hey y'all don't mean to hijack the post but as I get more and more hooked on riding my directional I wonder about which is the best kite for the job and there seems to be a lot of experienced wave riders here that have tried a lot of brands.

I currently ride 12/9 RPMs (2015) mainly cause I wanted a kite that mainly worked for wakestyle but still did it all OK and had a little more range than the fuels, but been considering switching to a wave dedicated kite like SST (I'm a huge SS fan) or NEO or the Reo or any of the top brands 'wave dedicated kites' but how do these compare to say a BWS Noise PRO which or their newer Aeneema which seems like BWS has 100% their focus on waves?

I haven't demo'ed SSTs but my bruh has a 9m NEO and it is a sick kite, not sure if for wave riding but pulls crazy hard for a 9 feelt like it pulled almost as hard as my 12 RPM but I could tell right away that the bar pressure will kill me so I personally will pass on the NEO and although personally I didn't think the drift was anything to brag about it is a little better than my RPMs at least not for a total noob in the waves as myself, it definitely recovered a little faster from a stalling due to slacked lines and my 9m RPM seemed quicker than the 9m NEO, I know I'm not comparing apple to apples but I'm not by any means attempting to review the NEO just scratching the surface observations from ridding the NEO for an hour ... so is there a way to truly compare the SST vs NEO vs Reo vs Noise/Aeneema?

BTW Anyone know of any tweaks I can do to the RPM to make them more wave-friendly? I really like them just wish they were a bit more drifty. I've recently read somewhere that setting up the bridals in wakestyle mode on another kite brand would help them drift better cause it sit more in instead of forward which should I guess it help drift, so I set up my 12 this way to test but waiting for some wind to test.

Thanks in advance for any feedback and great discussion BTW!

Hi allá, a question for SST 2017 users.

Sst 2016 is a great kite, the only thing is that tends to nose up when lying in the beach. Not a big issue, just need yo use a sand bag.

Can anyone using SST 2017 confirm if this solved for this year model ?

Thanks
