Hydrofoil Categories Explained - Foil Fridays Ep 02
Is Foilboarding easier now? Absolutely! In the last couple years, we've watched foilboarding evolve at an incredible rate. With better equipment, the sport has become much more accessible.
On top of that, we've noticed certain characteristics emerge. With that said, we thought it would be helpful to break down a few broad general categories to group our foils into.
If you hop onto our website and look at the listings of available foils, you might be pretty quickly overwhelmed and you'd wonder right away, "which foil, or which style of foil, is best for me? Foilboarding is exploding and with it, a lot of gear has been developed. We've got so much to offer, so many different options and different things they can be used for, we thought it would be helpful to break all that down all our foils into three separate categories,
- The first of which is freeriding
- The second of which is powered freeriding
- The third is high performance
In kiteboarding, those three categories make up the dominant bit of our foil offering. There'll be a little bit of grey area and some crossover between categories, but one of the coolest things about foiling is that there are so many different options for each individual rider that can be used for different things, and this video and this series will help break down which is the best foil for you, so pay attention and we'll help guide you through it.
