Ocean Rodeo: The Next Generation is now

Postby Toby » Fri Apr 06, 2018 6:35 pm

Ocean Rodeo News:

The Next Generation is now

Ocean Rodeo is proud to announce the release of its Next Generation line up of kites. Our next generation Prodigy, Razor, Roam and Flite all feature new innovations and refinements, continuing to build on our long legacy of providing uncompromising performance for all riding styles.

All our kites have been tested locally here on Vancouver Island, and then again in locations around the world to amazing success. Our demo testers and Brand Ambassadors are getting overwhelming attention at the beach for how the kite looks, performs, and are excited to see how Ocean Rodeo has been pushing boundaries by designing truly unique kites that are performance leaders in the industry.

What’s New:

NEW BRIDLE SYSTEM
New to this generation are larks head loops on front bridles, and knots on the back lines. We've added this in conjunction to our 2 pulley front line re-ride system to make our kites more responsive.

NEW MATERIALS
All our Next Generation kites have been retooled using the same methodology and approach, but are now optimised with the use of new materials to take off even more weight, and provide unmatched durability for all conditions and riding styles.

DIMENSION POLYANT K-PE DACRON

or 2.jpg

Dimension Polyant’s K-PE dacron utilizes PEN (polyethylene naphthalate) fibers in the warp direction. PEN has a higher modulus than polyester and these fabrics exhibit approximately 30 to 40% lower stretch than their polyester equivalents. This makes K-PE the ideal choice for kite dacron where low stretch is a top priority.

K-PE fabrics are produced utilizing DP’s patented X-PLY® technique assuring reliable performance and the highest quality lamination available on the market.

TEIJIN TECHNO FORCE D2 RIPSTOP

or 3.jpg

Designed specifically for the kiteboarding market, Teijin’s Technoforce D2 Ripstop has high tear resistance, low stretch, and is incredibly lightweight.

Each Strand of yarn is individually coated before being woven together. A second surface coating is then applied to the material, providing long term endurance.

Teijin D2 is the benchmark in quality with proven superiority in durability and dynamics.

SHERPA TECH KITE BAG

Another first from Ocean Rodeo.

All our Next Gen Kites will feature our efficient Sherpa Tech Bags.

We’ve all been there, draping multiple kite bags, pumps and boards over every appendage of our bodies. Fumbling our way through rugged terrain in search of that perfect wave or glassy flat.
Our Sherpa system makes it easy to connect and stack unlimited numbers of kite bags off your back or chest for a perfectly balanced hike in and out.

Free up your hands and arms for effortless climbing. In seconds, stash your board and pump away. Designed for riders who search for the ultimate ride, it’s never been easier to find out what’s around the next headland.

or 4.png
or 5.jpg

Wind chart colour matched lables.

To make things even easier the Sherpa kite bag is color coded via strategically placed color coded size labels. Designed to match wind strength colors used by leading web based wind forecast websites means with a quick glance you’ll know if you’re grabbing a 17m or 9.5 m.

FIT & FINISH
For this generation of kite we put a lot of effort into polishing all the fine details that make a great kite even better.

BRIDLE STORAGE TABS
Stash your bridle ends after each session in these low profile Velcro tabs. Quick, safe setup is all about efficient line management.

or 8.png

SELF RESCUE HANDLES
We hope you never have to use these, however they are on hand if required. Tucked up and out of the way on the inside of the leading edge tube. To identify look for the arrows screened on the LE tube.

EASY ACCESS PORT FOR BLADDERS
Another nice refinement, zip entry access to bladders is neatly finished to ensure opening and closure is simple and clean.

The Prodigy is our way of allowing you to do it all, with just one kite. We’ve innovatively designed our kite to perform in light winds, be able to take in waves, and be able to boost lofty jumps, without having to compromise. Our Moderate Arc and 3 Strut design are what make this kite truly unique and enjoyable by kiters of all riding styles and skill levels.

FLITE
Provides high performance dynamic riding with big lofty jumps even in the lightest of wind

The Flite is the lightest Kite we’ve ever made, but don’t let that make you think it’s like every other light wind kite on the market. This kite isn’t just built to fly in light wind, it’s built to perform. Tested on the rocky pacific northwest waters, the Flite’s innovative construction still allows riders the chance to ride waves, boost big lofty jumps, and can build immense speed for those on a foil board. The Flite truly is the only high performance light wind kite.

The new line up looks great, congratulations!

Great to see you starting to follow the standard but how do the knots at the back lines increase response and safety?

I see a 6m Roam but no 6m Prodigy?

You added the 8m a couple years ago... why no 6m? :nono:

The new DIMENSION POLYANT K-PE DACRON looks similar to the EXOTEC Dacron used by Core. If it is, that’s a great choice as it is a very impressive material.

Top shelf materials, proven designs and the new bar should put Ocean Rodeo at the top of most kiters shopping list..

They removed 4 pulleys from the bridle which were only used to make the kites backward compatible with the old 2 line rollover safety system. There are now only 2 pulleys and they are located on a secondary bridle line so they are under very little stress. I think that is what they are referring to “in conjunction to”

Thanks! I've not been this excited for a product launch, ever. Really proud of the line up, the refinements and the effort that went into getting it all market ready by our team.

The added knots let you adjust how much power is in the kite relative to the front lines. We also reversed the front and back line knot / loops so that it's impossible for someone using an older OR kite or bar to mix them up with the newer gear.

Yes, it's the exact same material. Core rebranded it with their own name to fit with the rest of their branding on the kite. We felt that Dimension Polyant has a stellar reputation in the industry and are very well known for their material science, why not let the material and the company behind it speak for itself.

Very proud of this new generation of kites, hit me up with any more questions!

We continue to aggressively expand our internal design team. The heart of our team will always be Richard and Ross who collaborate on all of the products we sell but under them we now have a large team of designers working full time to not only deliver the next next gen but to also work towards the pie-in-the-sky ideas that we love to chase.
