Pivot 2018 10-12m kite weight, please?

Postby omg » Sun Jun 10, 2018 8:05 am

Could someone weigh the 10m or 12m Pivot, please?

Here is the designer talking about the new 2019 models and how they have decreased the weight of the kites due to quadtex. He says the weight reduction has been around 7%, and that the 10m kite is 2,6kg, which is really light!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uPs9zu0h8nE

Just wonder, what's the weight for the 2018 models because there will be some sales on 2018 at some point.

Thanks very much!

If the 2019 10m Pivot weighs 2.6kg and is 7% lighter than the 2018 then the 2018 will weigh 2.8kg.

thanks, I can do the math, but would like to hear how's it real life... Sometimes things don't add up if you know what I mean.

Perfectly understand. My implied point was that for those who not weight obsessed a couple of hundred grammes on a 2.6-2.8 kg 10m kite is basically irrelevant.

For example, my 10m Ozone Enduro V2 weighs 2.7kg - would I be concerned if it weighed a couple of hundred grammes more? Nope.

Totally depends on what your using it for.

For anything over 14 knots it aint no big thing, but you can't assume that these days.

Weight makes a huge difference these days. 10m is a lot of peoples light wind kite and they are using em right down to the critical point they fall from the sky.

+1!

I use Neo 10m2 2017 for foiling and there's a point where it just falls from the sky even though it would be just on the edge of having enough power to get me foiling. I have no strut 15m no strut but life would be simpler with very light 12m 3-strutter... Hence my question abt the weight of the 12m Pivot (or Slash).

I have 9m and 12m 2018 PIVOTS, will weigh them tomorrow, and post numbers, I'm guessing manufacturers weigh kites without attached bridles, the same as boards weighed without fins.

The weight quoted below is for the kite with bridles.
