I like the 2018 kites but the were a bit too stealthy in the sky and too similar between types.
Based on that video, the kites are more visible in the sky.
I still don't understand why the kite size can't be printed plainly visible in large numbers on the canopy.
The most expensive change I've seen are on the molded parts where the logo was changed
When it's North or Core, nobody cares. Should've seen the complaining about the first Switch kites being all white or black...
I agree the different models are a bit difficult to keep apart at a distance. Graphics are almost identical. Best they ever had imo though.

Not literally anyone leaving. But a name, branding, marketing change. Throwing away an established and known name. Brand cachet is huge. Rolex and Bentley would never survive if they changed their names.

50/50 chance 'Duotone' survives the name change. No Shannon at Best? No Lou at Wainman? How'd that work out for them? Would be like if Pete or Robbie left.
I really hope Duotone manages to make it without Lowell North... I guess he is turning 90 next year so he had to retire at one stage.

Bad analogy. Rolex and Bentley are extreme examples of when people buy a product almost solely because of their name. Here's a better analogy for you using your same context. It would be like if Datsun changed it's name to Nissan which was the company that exported them.
Nissan? What a silly name, right.

It's more like this: Everyone who ever kited knew who and what Best was. Elivate? Ain't never going to hold a candle to what Best was. In sales, size, or brand awareness.
Best, Slingshot, North, Cabrina, Naish and sometimes Switch. Then 50 other brands. Not dogging the other 50 brands. It's just a rough, tough, and brutal market to be in for sure. You can imagine the land kite side of it. PL, Flexi, HQ still in it; and Ozone bailed from it. And the 3 still in it are contracting greatly. And I'm sure HQ changing the name to "HQ4" isn't going to help them any. Flexi left the water market and HQ thinks that's where it's at?

There has been a serious conflict if interest for B&M to switch brand name. I expect other kite brands, well known, will take the opportunity to do similar changes in the 2019/2020 season. The kitesurfing business was very little, now it is small. It is a move in the industry into corporates rather than small business units.

Nobody left North/Duotone.
only their customers are leaving Duotone...
terrible graphics and Name... and no difference in graphics between models.
Same prices as North!
we are trying to be loyal to the brand but they are making it soooo hard!

It might just be me, but I find that Eleveight have really done their homework and turned around quite nicely. Superbly-looking product, great branding image and marketing.
The duo thing though... Do they really think that they can just trash one of the most iconic brand names in the industry, slap a dull-sounding, meaningless word on the same exact product line instead, then run around making claims about being "True" and call it a day like nothing happened? Are they some special kind of stupid?
