World kite championships 2018

Postby Peter_Frank » Thu Aug 09, 2018 8:58 pm

In our backyard, such an awesome week here in Aarhus, and amazing footage of the Medal Races today.

Not the kitefoils, would expect the kite MR to be saturday - but take a look at the Finn and 470s - noone can say dinghy racing isnt physical challenging :naughty:

Conditions have been changing like always here in Denmark.

Offshore winds where we as kiters launch, 25 knots one day.
Seabreeze 5-6 knots onshore other days, or ZERO wind shortly.
Tomorrow friday has been forecasted 45 knots a bit offshore so we'll see if racing or not.

Site here: https://aarhus2018.sailing.org/

Kite results before MR (todays results, thursday, havent been updated yet when writing), but Nico rides pretty good:

Takes a long time to load, just wait and select kiteboard men/women.

Cool week riding out here at my homebreak with loads of races going on simultaneously over 7 race courses

its a sad day for kiteboarding if this is called the world kite championships

anyhow world sailing now made a statement that they are the authority of all forms of kiteboarding on water

What a bunch of thieving kook$.

i can tell u right now where i live kiteboarding is not legally classed as sailing, and if it does ( i doubt it), it will follow sailing legislation and be banned from all beaches.

Kiteboarding is a sport in its own right, for world sailing to claim authority of all forms of kiteboarding worldwide is a blatent lie designed to filter $ from our sport via olympic advertising.

so, kiteboarding potentially becomes legally sailing in aussie ( it is not currently), the maritime laws will then class kiteboarding as a vessel ( it is classed similar to surfing right now, its own sport as it should be..few restrictions). Classed as a sailing vessel, soo many restrictions in comparison.

lowlife idiots trying to reinvent the history of kiteboarding at our expense for profit, do your research, pre 2006....

I’m with mikesids on this. The other kiwis on this site have heard enough of you banging on about your opinions of world kite conspiracies. You have voiced your opinion enough, we know it and you are entitled to it but please mate give it a rest. I want some positive stoke and frankly this regatta has plenty of it. Really enjoyed the gps tracking. Great to see Connor Bainbridge taking out a race from the established crew. He was doing over 30knots on the last leg of race 13 in 8 knots of breeze. The standard of these fleets is so high with guys who were big names in top 5 spots a year ago now struggling to make the top 20. The new breed of amazing young talent is starting to come through to the top 10.
Meanwhile I’ve watched some pretty darn good wave comps slider comps and freestyle comps online elsewhere. Things can’t be that bad.

Sorry but I completely disagree, I think any regatta is great to watch but filming is complicated because it's difficult to see who's who/where, and because its difficult to get an idea where they are going, there's no overview of the relevant buoys and people, especially on an upwind leg. And you need to understand the basic rules.

There are no conspiracys, kiteboarding was it' s own sport, not a part of sailing. World Sailing suddenly decides it is the authority of all forms of kiteboarding on water when threatened by the IOC to include kiteboarding or lose medals/ no medals. It therefore has a potential knock on effect for kiteboarders wordwide that do any number of different disciplines different from racing.

A few weeks ago the IFKO was invited to GAISF/SPORTACCORD that decides whats sports are defined as for the IOC. eg that kiteboarding, was is and always will be it's own independent sport. not part of, or a discipline of sailing.

Hopefull we could be seeing the right thing being done soon. By kiteboarders, for kiteboarders, from the very top down.

Enjoy your racing but don't support the rewriting of kiteboarding history that World Sailing has made up... that kiteboarding is sailing in all its forms. It is f$#ing garbage, kiteboarding history shows it, the inventor of kiteboarding itself says its garbage. Don't disrespect the history of your sport. Talk to an OG and learn from them.

Womans kiteboard racing.. 11 competitors, doesnt exactly line up with IOCs olympic vision. Someone has been feeding World Sailing / IOC bull5it.
