Respect.

Respect just for being the very first i'm aware of to admit this.

The manufacturing-process for this type of equipment is fraught with problems unless you employ aerospace type quality control which would possibly quadruple the costs of some parts. Another problem is the varied operating conditions this kit has to service at a given cost. I have never had a failure is 12 years on any kit, mostly because I keep a zen-like eye on everything that my life may depend on and I get to understand about any limitations a particular piece of kit may have.

The problem we had with the chicken rope I showed you was that when the outer wore through it was easy to assume the centre core was doing something but it's there for an entirely different reason and must-not be regarded as part of chicken-rope structure.

It was only £14 delivered as a spare part, hardly a reason not to have a spare.

Probably they only did one production run of those heavy expensive and not-quite-ready castings at the heart of the CL When they run out, they will probably have an improved casting.
The use of wire for the CL ends, though, is a case of somebody being out to lunch.

THANK YOU

Because of this thread I inspected my three 2012 bars.
On one chicken loop end, the wire end was broken on one side.
Of the other two, one was suspicious and one definitely OK.

So I went to the Slingshot website and filled in the online warranty form and attached a picture.
I'm nobody special and didn't drop any names or ask for any special treatment.
Just an ordinary retail customer, who rides too much !

Next day I get a phone call AND an email from Kyle at SS.
He is polite, way too friendly, and wants to be sure I'm taken care of.
Sends me two replacement CL's that arrive in just a few days.
Installed them today and I'm ready to ride.

Holy shit...... great job KYLE !! And thank you.
Now I have to tell everbody I know, about how you took good care of me.

I have ha 2 butter boxes crack, and 2 chick loops wires snap. I bought both bars new but second hand so no warrantee. I have replaced both QRs with Naish ones which are a plug and play swap onto the compstick, and now no more trouble.

2011 this was noticed and their 2012 loops (staple) has a different weld position which is not on the shoulder of the QR stock, so they bend (which is fine) and don't break (which wouldn't be fine).

If you look close you can see on the older loops that the were on the straight parts and now its not.

Your regioanl support should replace these if they value your custom.

A big thanks to the OP. I just checked mine and it has cracked completely. WTF! Looks like a design flaw to me.

Contacted Slingshot sports as Windway did. Kyle took care of it right away and the new chicken loop should be here very soon. Props to Slingshot, especially Kyle, for having top notch customer service. Very easy to get a hold of and very eager to make it right: D

It bends, it's fine ? No, it's not fine. My local engineer say's anything metal that bends is then weaker. It's a crap design. They keep on using this year after year, when they are aware of this, and that's just not on. I still use Slingshot, but use the older bar system, which is also easier to release when your hands are cold, and things don't break.
