There is a small sandy beach just next to Hookipa that you can kite from (with a reef you have to walk over). Is the beach called Lanes? Just wondered what happens if things go wrong eg line break etc. Is it all rocks down wind??

Yes it is Lanes. You need booties to get over the rocks, wind can be very gusty on the inside (and the outside). It is all rocks downwind till Kuau approximately a mile.

Apart from a ripped kite and cut feet you'd be the laughing stock at mama's fishhouse
Nope but yeah probably don't want to wreck it there...
