bws noise size

PS maybe a shorter question after a long post ... those of you with experience of the BWS 12m, they way upper range is 18kts. Is it manageable up to low 20s, or does it quickly cross into scary out-of-control over-powered?

I like the bar, but it seems to have less range of depower than other kites maybe?

that 12 is like a 14m a big kite. depends what you are riding but the 10 will probably have a more usable wind range unless you ride in super light wind.

Not sure what you mean about not much depower, mine have loads, the bar is brilliant. I have the 8,6,5 which takes me from about a solid 15mph+ to so far over 50mph.

All i can add to this is that my 8m catalyst was stacked up against a 6m bws the other day. interestingly they both were same size!....

Somebody if fibbing about their sizing ! or perhaps both? maybe we have 7m kites? one badged as a 6 and the other as an 8!

It would make life easier if kite manufactures published actual sizes!

The 12 turns like a 12, and I think faster than a lot of other brands, but pulls a lot stronger than most other 12. I'm 75kg, and at 12kt I go down to the 8m with surfboard.

Sorry but faster than other brands and BWS shouldn't be in the same sentence. You need to try some other wave kites me thinks

Plummet the only reasonable explanation I can think of is a kiters perception of a wave kite. Most don't like anything bigger than a 10. I can only think it is a marketing ploy as I have seen the same thing in the flesh overlaying a BWS across another kite. It looks two sizes bigger! There can be no other explanation really. Strange indeed.

Answering your question, the BWS 10 pulls like a 12 because it has a 12 dimensions! Simple as that. Same happens with the other sizes. I have a bws10 which replaced a LF Envy 12 and I'm very happy with the kite. In spite of being advertised as a wave kite, it's actually a very good all-around kite.

so here´s another question...how is it possible for bws to get away with this? i mean, aren´t they misleading people???

i was so close to buy these kites, i wanted to believe the miracle so much (being 90kg,and yet to be able to have a 10m as the lowend kite)....you guys wouldnt believe

in the end, i bought north evos 2012..i didnt want to risk it.

the problem for me was that I could not demo these kites so i had to go for something more conventional and less riksy

bws were supposed to be able to allow you to use a kite one size bellow what you would nornally use...like one of those weight loss pills adverts.

Less depower....compared to the only other 2 kites I've used....Ocean Rodeo Rise and Cabrinha Switchblade. The 12m definitely had less "room" at the top end -- meaning it's fully depowered, but can't spill off enough juice with the bar. Walking was challenging at 16-18kt gusts. I've yet to need to quick release in a powered up situation ... kinda worried about how much pull it is going to have on the flagging line.

I'm stoked with the 6m and 8m so far. But for light wind I think I'm going to keep my Switchblade for a while, until I give this BWS 12m a better go in varied wind conditions. I suspect this BWS 12m may have a lower bottom end, but a more restricted upper end ... perhaps out of my control and scary at 20kts!?!
