Cabrinha is on the list?
As Neil Pryde the brand owner drove hard to push Kiteboarding out of the Olympics, just as he promised. I am surprised to see them there. I'd be further surprised if anyone other than paid staff would show up at an event with one.
Neil Pryde wanted to be the exclusive manufacturer for all the Kite Course Racing gear at the Olympics, just as he is for the windsurfing rigs they use. Right?
He spat the dummy when the IKA stood up to him, and he then threw he weight as a giant manufacturer against Kiteboardings bid. Calling in all his global windsurfing team riders and ISAF voters to fall in line.
All the history is online if you search for it.
I think you can drop the 30 board rule and the box rule is fine.
The whole Box rule/ one design saga is driven from the fact mega brands can not compete with the high end capabilities and production methods and direct to consumer sales model that specialist small course board builders can provide. This is also why they have insisted and pressured IKA to add in the 30 board / model rule.
Choke the efficiency out of the custom guys and add viability into super brands owning the market.
This attitude and the Olympic shambles brought shame on Cab riders everywhere & that is sad as they are passionate kiters not disgruntled Olympic Pryde riding Windsurfers . And they had no say in it. If the big boss says jump they say how high! Or have to move off the team or out of a job.
Maybe I've had one to many beers, but screw it. I'm just saying what's being said at the beach over and over.
Good on the IKA for having a bloody good crack.
Neil Pryde and the Cabrinha group should sharpen up their game.
FYI - I don't compete... more beer please
