Nice one. I still think IKA is right though. I would suggest using helmets, but apart from that, most sports I know of has these risks...well except golf and curling maybe?
http://www.uncoached.com/2010/02/05/hor ... -injuries/
One of my teammates spat out three teeth before continuing to play. Our goalie broke his nose twice in a season, and were denied use of face mask. I've broken bones..and this is a regular ball sport.
Shit I was wrong about the curling injuries. They exist. Though sweeping injury is not as bad I guess...

"it's no more dangerous than any other sport other than golf and curling"
My reasoning is that non kiting parents read "it's no more dangerous than any other sport" not much else, i don't have a problem with kiteracing it's fun, I have done far more dangerous stuff

Many years ago I remember reading about a windsurfer on a raceboard that died when the fin severed an artery on his leg. No laughing matter. Back then the recommendation was to sand the edges of the fin just a bit as it apparently does not need to be sharp as a butcher's knife.

Yes, we know all sports are dangerous. Life is dangerous, but still it hurts when you get injured.
AV ! Longwhitecloud - hope your friend will recover soon and well.

Didn't have too see that. Ouch !
Now combine an injury like that in the Florida shark infested waters and see what happens.

indeed all sports are more or less dangerous in one or another way yet i prefer to stick with less sharp objects for my hobbies

That's why my mantra is: long jon all the way, even in hot weather.
Do you know what were the conditions for such an injury? I mean, people tend to do stuff with inappropriate gear... like big air with a raceboard.
